System Administrator
- We are looking for flexibility from you; unsurprisingly there is a large portion of this job that is ad-hoc and not in your usual 9-to-5.
- We are offering a full-time, permanent, office-based role.
- You define yourself as a self-starter and work best with a set of objectives but not necessarily under day-to-day supervision and direction.

- We are looking for someone who is keen to take the initiative in introducing improvements and enhancements.
Your day-to-day
The list will include the following, so would like to talk to you about your thoughts on these:
Essential:
- Linux server administration (primarily Ubuntu)
- Experience with Apache Tomcat 5.5 - 7.0
- Database administration (with Oracle and PostgreSQL experience)
- Web application optimisation and maintenance
- Writing/updating/maintaining scripts for backups, overnight jobs, etc
- Applying updates/upgrades
- Freeing-up disk space
- Migrating services
- Managing servers remotely (via SSH)
- Setting-up load-balancing/clustering/scalable messaging components
- Setting-up/disabling user access
- Monitoring/analysing server logs
- Optimising services
- Securing services and testing & reviewing that security
- Documenting DRP, network infrastructure, etc.
- Maintaining and testing DRP
- Responding to monitor alerts
- Fine-tuning/extending system monitors
- General office IT administration
Desirable:
- Looking after Blackberry Enterprise Server and Microsoft Exchange
- Version Control systems (particularly Git DVCS)
- Network administration
- Cisco PIX firewall configuration
- Rack server hardware installation and maintenance

Java Web Application Developer
- You have a grounding in Java web development using the Spring framework. You will have also had some exposure to SQL and Linux.

Your day-to-day
Successful applicants will be joining a diverse team of developers who employ Agile methodologies. We feel we have managed to combine a relaxed working environment with a strong work ethos, and interviewees will probably pick up on this when they visit us.
Vacancies are currently available for both junior (1-3 years' experience) and more senior (4+ years' experience) developers.
Essential:
- Java web application development using the Spring Framework
- JSP, HTML, CSS, JavaScript and AJAX
- Webapp security
- SQL, JDBC and RDBMS, particularly Oracle and/or PostgreSQL
- Object-Relational Mapping, particularly Hibernate
- XML and Web Services (WSDL, XSD, SOAP and HTTP, particularly using Axis)
- Experience with reporting platforms, especially JasperReports

Agile Project Manager
- You'll have a passion for Agile with experience of the Scrum framework.

- As an intermediary between the PMs and the Developers you need good
diplomacy, communication and interpersonal skills and have the ability to
understand and explain highly complex issues.

Your day-to-day
As an Agile Project Manager you will be working closely with stakeholders across
the business and this role will be relied upon for managing the timely and effective
implementation of new sites and services using Agile project management:
Essential:
- Uphold the principles of agile/scrum within the development team and
ensure they are delivering.
- Work closely with the Product Owner and Business Managers to create a
product roadmap to include all tracks of work.
- Maintaining project overview of entire Skillstream client portfolio.
- Maintain resource forecast and allocation by client and project.
- Managing risks and issues.
- Informed decisions on the priorities of projects.
- Protect the team by making sure they do not over-commit themselves on
what they can achieve during iteration.
- Identify and remove impediments for the team, ensure the team is focused
on delivery.
- Organise and facilitate project meetings, track and communicate team
velocity through the use of metrics, sprint/release progress updates,
retrospectives and demos.
- Work with the team to define and deliver release/implementation
dependencies.
- Working closely with the Product Owner and Business Managers, ensure that
all projects are documented, controlled, communicated and delivered.
- Work to clarify project objectives and understand where it fits with the
company roadmap.
[Very] Desirable:
- Have a passion for agile with experience of the Scrum framework.
- Excellent organisational and facilitation skills.
- Significant commercial experience of Agile Project Management.
- Experience in a technology-led company required, ideally with exposure to
the recruitment industry.
- A degree in computer science or equivalent commercial experience.
- Ideally the candidate will have a technical background gained in software
development a senior level (TA/ Team Lead/ Senior Developer).
- Experience with automated testing.
- Excellent level of enthusiasm - necessary to engage with users.
- Strong motivational and coaching skills.
- Excellent analytical stills and a good attention to detail.
- Great eye for detail and the ability to follow issues through to resolution.
- Ideally certified as a ScrumMaster.

Project Manager

Your day-to-day
As part of the Project Management team you will have the opportunity to work
across a number of key Skillstream clients and your responsibilities would
include:
Account Management:
- Managing existing client relationships with stakeholders throughout the
duration of the contract.
- Managing the costs and budgets, approval of all deliverables, client expectations, stakeholders and development teams.
- Partnering with the Sales team to deliver client-relevant system
demonstrations and consult with potential clients over requirements.
- Troubleshooting issues with live sites & managing resolution to full
satisfaction of our clients.
Consultancy:
- Provide ongoing consultancy to the client where required, including
offering recruitment subject matter expertise especially within the
temporary and contractor workforce.
- Identify opportunities with existing clients for beneficial enhancements.
- Opportunity to innovate solutions for clients to resolve different
operational challenges.
Client Delivery:
- Managing project implementations throughout the whole project lifecycle
from designing requirements to testing, training and service delivery.
- Managing project issues, iteration planning, review, changes and client
risks.
- Creating, reviewing and editing user requirements, business processes
and documents related to a proposed solution.
[Very] Desirable:
- Prior experience working for either a recruitment agency or a vendor
management company.
- Previous experience working in a client facing background ideally in a
project or account management capacity.
- Be comfortable working in an environment where leading-edge
technologies are being planned, specified, designed, deployed and
supported.
- The ability to convey information in a clear, structured and
understandable manner.
- Deal with clients/stakeholders in a sensitive and diplomatic manner.
- Work as part of a team fostering effective and productive working
relationships.
- Conceptual understanding of Web applications and database
technologies.
